Why I Built a Different Kind of Dog Treat (And Why Your Dog Deserves It)
Share
Walk into any pet store and you’ll see rows of “dental chews” and “functional snacks” promising everything from fresh breath to hip support. But when you turn the package over, what do you usually find?
Starch. Flour. Synthetic powders pressed into shapes.
My dog doesn’t need that. And yours doesn’t either.

Where the Idea Started
I’ve always been fascinated by old-school herbal methods. Herbalists don’t just sprinkle a bit of dried powder into something and call it medicine. They know that roots and leaves release their benefits when simmered into strong decoctions. That’s where the true plant compounds are drawn out.
So one day I asked myself: what if I preserved those compounds in real food instead of powders?

Building My Own Method
Instead of copying what the industry does, I built my own process from scratch:
-
Step 1: Herbal Decoctions – I simmer roots and leaves slowly, pulling out the active compounds.
-
Step 2: Stabilization – I lock those compounds into collagen, pork gelatin, coconut oil, and vitamin E. This preserves the delicate plant chemistry instead of letting it evaporate or “boil off.”
-
Step 3: Gentle Dehydration – I dry the dough at a low temperature so the nutrients and herbal benefits stay intact. No high-heat extrusion, no shortcuts.
This process doesn’t just sound different — it works differently.

Why It Matters For Dogs
Most mass-produced chews are built for shelf stability and mass production, not for health. Dogs with sensitive stomachs or food allergies often struggle with starch-heavy treats, and synthetic “functional powders” rarely deliver what they promise.
By using real foods and preserving herbal compounds naturally, I’m giving my dog — and yours — something closer to what nature intended:
-
Digestive support from real fibers and roots
-
Joint support from collagen and gelatin
-
Clean crunch without flours, fillers, or binder's

Handmade, Not Trendy
This isn’t about chasing a fad or slapping “holistic” on a label. This is me in my kitchen, experimenting until I found something that made my dog Tobey thrive.
I didn’t learn this from a company playbook or a vet textbook. I built it myself.
That’s why it looks different. That’s why it works different.
And that’s why I’m proud of it.
Because every dog deserves snacks that are real, functional, and made with care — not starch and marketing.
